Note to ACHEA Community COVID-19

Dear ACHEA Community,

The global pandemic of COVID 19 has left us all puzzled about how a virus could wreak such havoc over the entire world. Your ACHEA Executive is aware that since early March 2020 so many unexpected things have happened and are still unfolding. Hundreds of thousands have died globally, and many more, by the thousands, are still being infected. World leaders are perplexed and have been made to look ignorant in the face of this pandemic. Our academic institutions have had to pull on all our resources and resilience to deliver what we promised to our students and other stakeholders.

During the period of the lockdown between the months of March to June, your ACHEA Chapters continued to remain relevant by hosting online events to engage our current members, and to grow our membership base. Three Webinars were delivered which were designed to deliver professional development strategies as well as to provide tools for coping with these unprecedented circumstances. Access to these valuable resources is available on the ACHEA website

  • April 22, 2020, – Topic: Excellent Customer Service: Now or Never.
  • May 7, 2020 – Topic: Ubuntu: Emotional Intelligence in COVID 19 Times
  • June 23, 2020 – Topic: The Gender Divide: Poor women and Children Under COVID.

You should have heard by now, that our annual conference scheduled for July 2020 has been postponed owing to COVID 19 protocols implemented globally, but we are already making plans for July 2021. Details will be communicated to you as soon as they are available.

In the meantime, the ACHEA Executive intends to continue to host future webinars for your continued professional development during the upcoming months. Remember to keep the connection with ACHEA by visiting our website and social media platforms for information about upcoming events.

As countries contemplate re-opening their borders and our institutions initiate different stages of return to work policies, we applaud and encourage you to continue to demonstrate resilience and creativity under these unprecedented circumstances. Please know that you have been in the hearts and minds of the ACHEA Executive, and we encourage you to keep safe as we all slowly try to return to a state of near normalcy of our operations.

Regards
