ACHEA

2021 is a significant year in the history of ACHEA as it is the year when the Association celebrates 20
years of existence. We shall celebrate this milestone under the theme “20 Years of Excellence in
Empowering Higher Education Administrators”.

We agree that 20 years of existence is no easy achievement amidst the rapid expansion and
complexity of tertiary level institutions all over the world. We have faced many challenges and
overcame many obstacles. Despite the threat posed by the current global crisis caused by Covid-19,
ACHEA remains resilient, viable, and vibrant!

All this could not have been achieved without the foresight and recognition by Mrs. Gloria Barrett-
Sobers, Founding Member and First President of the Association, who believed that HE
Administrators have a vital role to play in advancing the development of regional higher education
institutions.

Commendation must be given to Past Presidents – Dr. Gillian Paul, Mr. C. William Iton, Dr. Kofi
N’Krumah Young, Dr. Linda Steele, and Dr. Claire Craig, for their dedication in ensuring that ACHEA
maintained its relevance in the Higher Education sector. We also extend our appreciation to
Executive Members, past and present, for their tireless and unwavering support in ensuring that
ACHEA remains the number one Higher Education institution in the Caribbean region. We also
cannot overlook our membership and volunteers for dedicating their expertise and time to ACHEA’s
various activities.

During our 20th Anniversary Celebrations, we shall be hosting a series of events to commemorate this
significant milestone and more information about these activities are posted here on our website.
Among these activities is the ACHEA Charity Programme Launch. It is with much pleasure that we
inform our stakeholders that in a letter dated May 26, 2021, the Charities Authority of Jamaica, in
accordance with the Charities Act of 2013, granted the registration of ACHEA as a Registered
Charitable Organization. The ACHEA Charity Launch will take place on Friday, July 30th where the
Association will be rolling out the Programme.

Congratulations to ACHEA for 20 years of Excellence in Empowering Higher Education Administrators
and we look forward to going from strength to strength.
